What is rosacea? Rosacea aka acne rosacea is caused by chronic inflammation of the skin. It usually affects the face and manifests as frequent facial flushing, presence of broken blood vessels (telangiectasias), persistent facial redness and inflammatory papules (bumps). Rosacea can affect the eyes in some cases. If untreated, rosacea can cause disfiguring changes to the nose, cheeks, chin, forehead and ears.
